Applications of Stainless Steel Water Tanks

Drinking Water

Type 304 stainless resists corrosion on its own, and the interior sealant is NSF/ANSI 61 certified and FDA compliant, so the tank can hold drinking water when it's installed and used as specified. Every tank is tested watertight at the factory before it ships.

Fittings and Outlets

Each tank on this page comes set up for water storage, with two poly bulkhead fittings on one side: a low one for drawing water and a higher one on the sidewall. If you'll run a pump from the tank, ask for a larger outlet when you order.

Stainless or Galvanized

Stainless Steel

The corrosion resistance is in the metal itself, not a coating, so there is no zinc layer to wear through over the years. The usual pick when the tank will serve a home, sit in a visible spot, or simply needs to be the last tank you buy for that location.

Galvanized Steel

Protected by a zinc coating, galvanized tanks deliver the same vertical metal cistern format with a lower cost of entry, and they remain the workhorse for ranch, well, and rainwater duty.
