Rainwater collection tanks from 90 to 5,000 gallons to store the rain off your roof for drinking water or general use. Choose galvanized or stainless steel from Texas Metal Tanks or a corrugated steel kit, with NSF 61 certified and FDA compliant interiors.
Rain off a roof is free water, and the tank decides how much of it you keep. Our rainwater tanks come from Texas Metal Tanks in galvanized and stainless steel, with a One Clarion corrugated steel kit for larger roofs.
Rainwater models are ready for a downspout: turn the top until the basket inlet sits under it, and the basket catches leaves before they reach the water. An overflow carries off the excess once the tank is full, and Texas Metal Tanks advises running it away from the tank and house toward low ground. Draw water off the threaded outlet with a hose or pump.
Galvanized tanks are lined with paint and epoxy and stainless tanks are sealed inside, both NSF 61 certified and FDA compliant, so the tank is suitable for drinking water when installed and used as specified. Rainwater itself still needs filtering and treatment before you drink it.
Galvanized steel is the dependable everyday choice, while stainless steel is built for a longer service life and stronger corrosion resistance. Texas Metal Tanks Explained walks through the differences.
Texas Metal Tanks puts the yield at about 600 gallons for every inch of rain on 1,000 square feet of roof, so a barn or shop roof quickly outgrows a small tank. One Clarion's 5,000 gallon corrugated steel kit adds a leaf basket inlet, a screened overflow and an NSF 61 certified liner, for areas with little or no snow load.
